We're pleased to offer e-PayDay Go® at a fair and reasonable price! Developing cloud software is more complex than desktop software. We have to pay for infrastructure, meet security standards, comply with government regulations, and pay third-party fees to manage and report data. Our ISO 27001 certification and audits are ongoing.
Since 2015, when we started working with the Australian Taxation Office on Single Touch Payroll (STP), there have been many changes that will continue in the future. Meeting all these requirements is expensive. We have to consider the ongoing cost of developing and supporting e-PayDay® when determining our pricing.
We're happy to share some valuable insights on developing payroll software as a Digital Service Provider (DSP). Take a moment to check out the following blog post, Are the days of the small payroll software developer numbered with Single Touch Payroll?

e-PayDay Go® is a web-based application that resides online. It works on any device that is connected to the internet and has a web browser.
There is nothing you need to download. All you have to do is sign up here, go.e-payday.cloud.

Software applications in the cloud provide significant benefits due to the internet always being "on". As technology evolves, the ability to communicate in real-time with many different services enables us to expand the functionality.
By continuing to develop e-PayDay®, we can efficiently deliver multiple new features, such as:
An Employee Self-Service App will allow employees to view their pay slips, request leave, clock in and out, view shifts and numerous other benefits on their phones.
Connecting to different government departments providing additional benefits such as Employee onboarding using myGov and accessing other services delivers the capability to automatically pre-fill data.
Modern Award data is automatically available and updated directly from Fair Work, aiding in remaining compliant by staying current.
To ensure the long-term sustainability and viability of e-PayDay®, we made a difficult decision not to retrofit our legacy desktop software and instead build a new online payroll from the "ground up". While this outcome was costly, the benefits outweigh any potential downsides. Many other Digital Service Providers (DSPs) are also facing this choice as the market rapidly moves towards online solutions, which offer significant advantages for our customers.

There is no ability to import your existing data. The are several essential reasons behind us not providing the option.
Single Touch Payroll (STP) Phase 2 aims to help businesses comply with payroll regulations. The first implementation of STP highlighted the need for more detailed reporting.
STP Phase 2 moved the reporting of Gross from a total amount to being separately itemised. The data's primary recipient is Services Australia and, to a lesser extent, other Government departments. With this change came a Social Responsibility to ensure the accuracy of the reported information to mitigate the possibility of another Robodebt situation.
Due to the significant changes in the reported data, such as Tax Treatments and Income Types, the information must be manually entered. The system determines the requirements as you complete the employee's employment details based on the ATO Forms. Even if we were to provide the names and addresses, additional information still needs to be entered.
We have also expanded the Pay Rates, Allowances, and Deductions design to include additional characteristics that ensure accuracy when processing a pay run and correctly reporting data to the ATO.
Another significant feature we have added is a direct connection to Fair Work. Modern Awards are now available when adding employees, which is another way e-PayDay Go® assists in managing your compliance obligations.
Customers currently performing data entry have stated the benefits are ensuring the information is recent and, therefore, providing the ability to audit the details, minimising the risk and exposure to potential ATO or Fair Work penalties.

Robust security processes have been implemented. These are continually being reviewed and updated. While no one can guarantee 100% security of your data, we have many systems, procedures and policies in place to mitigate risks.

To maintain familiarity, we kept the core design of e-PayDay Go® as close as possible to e-PayDay® Legacy. Overall our customers have always provided favourable feedback about the ease of use of the desktop product. For many years, the functionality we could implement was limited due to our development environment's outdated technology.
By moving e-PayDay® online, we can resume our goal of developing an always-connected powerful payroll solution, resulting in our future-proof vision finally coming to fruition.
Our objective is always to provide a comprehensive product and, where possible, mask the complexity that will always be inherent in payroll behind a simple user interface.

Whilst that sounds great, we have not experienced any instance where no user intervention was required due to the complexity of the changes. Every payroll system must be configured to produce the required outcomes.
As e-PayDay® Legacy is a desktop application, e-PayDay Go® was designed and developed specifically as a web-based application. Some solutions are already online, so they could convert the data to STP Phase 2 within the one system.

If your General Ledger accounts have been set up correctly, entering payroll amounts manually should be a straightforward task.
